Butterfly Theatre Collective

After training as an actor at Arts Ed, Carla-Marie joined Butterfly in 2014 where she has played Mabel Chiltern in Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband; Celia in As You Like It; Second Witch in Macbeth; Cecily Cardew in The Importance of Being Earnest, and Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in various productions and UK and international tours.

Carla-Marie joined the creative team as a producer in 2015, co-producing Butterfly’s The Lesson at The Other Palace Studio. Since then she has produced two sellout show’s in a stunning National Trust Georgian Town House on the beautiful Island of Jersey - An Ideal Husband (2016) and The Importance of Being Earnest (2017). She also assisted in the direction and production of Butterfly’s 2017 tour of Romeo and Juliet.

In 2019, she worked with Butterfly’s Associate Director and Writer Ed Hartland to create a custom written piece of theatre for National Trust for Jersey property 16 New Street, which merged stories and history of the house with Shakespeare text - Secrets Unlocked.

Carla-Marie’s most recent projects include: A MidZoomer Night’s Dream (2021) - Working with Arts University Bournemouth students to create a unique production of Shakespeare’s classic for an online theatre festival (Producer).; A Christmas Carol Online (2020) - A unique, online, interactive production of Dickens’ classic story (Producer); We Are Human (2020) - A community engagement video project highlighting unity in a time of crisis (Associate Producer); as well as doing various education workshops for schools internationally.

After 7 years as an Associate Producer, Carla-Marie became Butterfly’s Creative Producer and continues to work on many theatre projects and initiatives including an ongoing production partnership with The National Trust for Jersey, and the development of Butterfly Online and the Butterfly Education and Training Programme.
